‘Salon des Refusés‘ Evenings Part 3 marks the third part of a series of presentations featuring works & objects from Berube’s art private archives. This evening brings together found objects, signs and never before shown works that reflect ideas of anonymity, disclosure and the authorization of speech. They may also question what some perceive as ‘acceptable art’, as interpreted by those who experience discomfort when being presented with work that challenge us internally.

Notably, the space will feature signs previously used on the street for panhandling. Exhibited in this way, they identify the unsettling potential for words and images to shift when confronted from above rather than below. The question of where this “frame” begins ends allows us to consider the degree to which objects maintain their sense of belonging, and within which contexts they best speak the their truths.

Also featured; artwork by local artist Herman Ruhland (Perth, Ontario).
