Artist Statement:
I make art to make sense of life. I seek to capture the experiences and emotions we share collectively but that often occur in isolation. My work is an act of storytelling that merges real and imagined narratives to find connections between life’s contradictions and dualities. Like a diary entry, each piece questions and reflects, recounting the moments that form personal history and identity.
My practice consists mainly of mixed media drawings and collages. Their small scale reflects their intimate subject matter. I use paper as my surface for its simultaneous strength and fragility, and for its ability to remember marks even after they have been erased or painted over. Working with wet and dry materials, I repeatedly add and remove layers to build narratives that are intentionally subtle and direct. My pieces merge disparate imagery and concepts, speaking openly of love and loss, hope and despair, growth and decay.
