LA TRAMPA PRINTMAKING STUDIO INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION
Proyecto de exposición de La Trampa Gráfica Contemporánea
Since its inception in 2009, La Trampa Gráfica Contemporánea has created a space for the exchange of ideas, proposals and ways to address the contemporary art scene, in particular, the graphic arts.
The artists whose works will be shown at La Petite Mort Gallery include Alva Ernesto Franco, Omar Arcega Morales, Veronica Bape, Catsuu César López, Rubén Morales Lara and Guillermo Trejo.
As Christian Barragan describes Ernesto Alva’s work, “it is neither macroscopic or microscopic and is not intended to be either. Each work is only a vast and indeterminate presence in the world.” Omar Arcega uses drawing and collage as research tools to describe chaos, destruction and the different masks in which human consciousness is wrapped. Veronica Bape describes her artistic production as “a research laboratory where the results are a consequence of the same process, where the ugliness, the jarring or weird are a way to find the truth. ” The work of César Catsuu López is the result of a thoughtful process regarding the historical and religious ideas called Ñomndaa, which includes mythological and sacred issues. ”
In the case of Ruben Morales Lara his artistic work includes a process of analysis and creation of new forms within the same language of drawing. Guillermo Trejo says “In my work, I research the uses and history of engraving. I am interested in exploring how the recording process is related to the way we understand the political and social issues. ”
Each of the participating artists has a particular way to make their artwork, both in their process and the exploration of the themes. But this does not prevent them being part of the same event, this is what happens constantly in Contemporary Graphic Trap, is a space where a myriad of positions, ideas and ways of working, creating a space for artistic creation which is in constant motion, where creative, conceptual and formal processes are enriched and realized, generating a committed and innovative artwork.
The title of the exhibition Up, Down, Charm, Strange, Top, Bottom / Arriba, Abajo, Encanto, Extraño, Cima, Fondo, Quarks arises in particle physics, along with leptons are the fundamental constituents of matter. There are 6 different types of quarks, which are the ones that give their name to the exhibition.
Note: The work presented below which will not be presented in the exhibition, is presented only as a reference work of each participating artist.
There are 6 different types of quarks, which are the ones that give their name to the exhibition. The decision to this title, is because we believe that Trampa Gráfica Contmporánea , works in the same direction, where different elements come together in one space to generate works “matter” committed to plastic, their time and that these proposals are in constant motion, without thereby losing record, strength and relevance in the field of graphics.
Descriptively, the exhibition will consist of six artists who have a 2 linear meters to show what suits them according to their own interests, taking into account that at least one of the exhibits have been held in La Trampa Gráfica Contemporánea.
In addition there will be a folder with an original print of each participating artist in the exhibition (6 per folder), measuring 30 X 30 cm. The print run is 16 signed and numbered copies, plus a workshop test.
