‘The Face of the Cosmos” by Benedict V. Favata M.D., 1971. Spectacular & Unique Ink Drawing on Paper Stock (sepia/beige color). “Love Thy Lord Thy God, Our Father, With Thy Whole Heart, Soul & Mind”. A rather amazing drawing of this person’s ideals & beliefs. Be it Outsider, Brut, Self Taught & inspired by God, this drawing is what it is; spectacular. Measures 12 x 18 inches. Great condition. No info on verso other than archival tape marks, since it was probably once framed. Part of a particular & unique collection of mid century collection of artworks. It’s also a collage, since the center piece is glued on. Along with chemical formulas, we find waterfalls, trees, eagle, raccoon, chicken, cow/goat, fish, bees, turtle squelette, butterfly, starfish, and, uh, a lot more.

Recent Acquisition from the Private Art Collection of a Los Angeles Collector of Mid Century Art, who passed away in 1999. Acquired via his son in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.


Online search reveals: Born in New York on 26 Jul 1909 to Pasquale Favata and Antonia Raspante. Benedict Victor Favata, MD married Raida Dedomenico. He passed away on  10 Jan 1991 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA.

Artist was a doctor, which may have influenced his style of artwork;
