“Subtle Bodies inhabit an impossible and illogical world.
Within are situations that are absurdist, yet include something familiar; something calming and hopeful.
I have attempted to utilize the language of abstraction while instilling a realism that is paralleled to our own surroundings and experiences. Among them, dread and fear are juxtaposed with optimism and stillness; the natural with the artificial; and the real with the sublime.
In each work, uncertainty is paired with the chance of survival. They are afforded a meditative calm in each environment that is often impossible to attain. In the face of loss and demise, viewers are persuaded to sympathize and pity the tender creatures that make up the existential space of Subtle Bodies”. –Scott Everingahm, 2008
