SOLD. Rare Set of Mexico Folk Art Mid Century Terracotta Bowls & Tray with Abstract Hand Painted Pattern

ALL SOLD.

Rare Set of Mexico Fold Art Terracotta Bowls & Tray with Abstract Hand Painted Pattern. Possibly mid century based on the pattern/design but at least 30-40 years old.

It’s a collection I bought privately from a collector. There’s alot of beautiful terracotta bowls in Mexico, but I’ve only seen this abstract pattern once. The seller told me it’s specific to a region in Mexico, and I’m still looking for that info. They are impossible to find, especially used but in great condition.. and A SET.

I photographed them as a group, to get a sense of size; notice dish sponge, with estimate sizes. Here we go:
Can be sold as a set of seperatly.

1. Large bowl. Approx. 12” circumference. See on back; one glued repair at a 2.5 inch seam/mild crack. USD$200

2. Large bowl. Approx. 11” circumference. No damage or repairs. USD$225

3. Medium bowl. Approx. 9” circumference. No damage or repairs. USD$165
4. Large Platter with handles: the largest of the 4 pieces. Approx. 14” circumference. I keep this platter lightly oiled (vegetable or olive) to maintain its pattern. If dry, pattern fades. There may be a way to modify that permanently but I didn’t. It’s beautiful as is. USD$225

I’ve used all of them; they have weight to them, which is good. They are solid. I’ve never used them in the oven but you can. I prob wouldn’t with the one with the repair. Et voilà.
